Companies participating in the 2010 CESA Relay can collect their timing chips and race numbers from the Offices of SSI based in Johannesburg (Woodmead) and Tshwane (Pretoria).

These items will be available from the offices main receptions from noon on Tuesday 24 August 2010.

07:30 Monday 23 August 2010 – Young Adults and Kiddies Innovation Centre?

Just a reminder that there are added attractions at this year’s event. Bring along your children and young adults to take part in the activities taking place in the “CESA Relay Innovation Centre”.
 
For children between the ages of 5 & 9 there is fully supervised entertainment, jumping castles, making of pinwheels and building structures.
 
For the slightly older ones 10 to 15 years, there is also supervised entertainment as well as a bridge building competition.
 
The Innovation centre opens at 07:30 and closes at 12:15.
 
Bring along your children to this new venue and take part in the new events which are available at this year’s relay.

12:00 Friday 20 August 2010 - Relay Registration Closed:

Thanks to all Companies for registering a total of 338 Teams for this years event. This is a small reduction of 12 teams from last years record event participation. All the necessary processes are now underway to prepare the timing database, race numbers and timing chips to make next Saturdays event another wonderful milestone in the history of the CESA Relay.

07:15 Wednesday 18 August 2010 - Registration Extended:

To All Companies taking part in the CESA Relay taking place at Eagle Waters, Hartbeespoort Dam on Saturday 28 August 2010.

REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY 18 AUGUST 2010:

Due to many requests we are holding open the relay registration process until midnight tonight (Wednesday 18 August 2010).
 
Today is your last chance to register those final teams and ensure all the necessary information is loaded especially if you are competing on a “Competitive” capacity.
 
Registration will close at midnight tonight after which no further changes will be permitted. Teams which have registered as “Competitive Teams”, in the event that all their information is not load correctly, they will automatically default to “Recreational Teams”.
 
Please use this extra time to ensure all your information is correct.
 
We have introduced 5 extra social areas, of which 3 are still available, if you would like to book one of these final areas, please contact Elsie Smith, elsies@ssi.co.za.
 
COLLECTION OF RACE NUMBERS & TIMING CHIPS:
 
All registered companies will be able to collect their race numbers, timing chips and other relay information from the Offices of SSI based in Pretoria and Johannesburg from “noon on Tuesday 24 August 2010.”
 
Further information in regards to the collect of these items will be posted on the CESA Relay website in due course.
 
Please contact Elsie Smith, elsies@ssi.co.za to confirm which location from which you would like to collect your race envelopes, race numbers and timing chips.
 
As the countdown begins, I would invite you all to keep visiting the relay website to keep up-to-date will all the breaking news and last minute developments.

With only 12 days left until the running of the 25th Annual CESA relay, the original allocation of social areas are now "sold out". We are also releasing a further 5 stands to accommodate those Companies which have left their booking requirements to the last days of the registration process. One of these additional 5 have already been sold.

If you HAVE registered for the Relay, you can add teams with your individual participants names until noon on 17 August 2010. From Noon onwards you will no longer be able to load additional teams or change participant names or team order.

If you HAVE registered for the Relay as a “Competitive Team”, you need to have added all your team members names, gender and their ID numbers by noon on 17 August 2010). From NOON onwards you will no longer be able to load any information for your team and this information will be utlised for timing purposes and awarding of prizes in line with the rules and regluations of the Relay. If your information is not in the system by noon on 17 August 2010 you will not be eligable for any prizes (spot prizes excluded). This is non negotiable and no exceptions will be entertained.

Have you registered for the relay? Time is passing us by and avoid the rush and register today?

This year we are pleased to introduce some special events for our younger visitors.

Kiddies Corner

An open play area has been established for children at the CESA relay. The open play area will be fenced off, however kids will be allowed to come and go as they please. All ages will be accommodated, there will however be a small area for the toddlers to keep the bigger kids separate from the smaller ones.
 
Child minders will be available to supervise the children in the play area, the following activities will be set up for the children:
1.       Jumping Castles x 2 one for the toddlers and one for the older children;
2.       Tables and chairs for drawing and painting;
3.       Colouring leaflets and crayons (with a colouring in competition);
4.       Toys (such as balls, Frisbee’s etc), books, scooters etc;
5.       Sports activities;
6.       Arts and craft (sweaty man, beading, 3D cards/packets and more);
7.       A clown/balloon sculptor/face painter; and
8.       Water wheel.
 

Kiddies Competition:

A design build competition will be launched at this years Relay in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the event. Two activities will be presented one for smaller children aged 6-9 years and one for larger children aged 10-16 years.
The activities aim to encourage youth to explore the use of engineering principles in a fun and exciting environment. Teams will be set up and prizes will be awarded for the best “design”; “structural integrity” and “functionality” of product developed.
More details as to type of activities to be undertaken will be provided closer to the time.

Registration for the 2010 relay opened on schedule at noon today. Everyone is now able to register their companies for this years relay. Please note registration approval will only be provided 24 hours after registration.

Thursday 01 July 2010 - The 25th Running of the CESA Relay event - Web site to go live at noon today.

This year’s relay has been relocated to a wonderful new venue alongside the Hartbeespoort dam. The relocation has become necessary due to the growth of the event (doubled in size in the last two years) as well as changes to the old venue which has reduced the available space to hold the relay as well as increasing the safety risk for all participants. Parking has become a major problem and the number of injuries especially cyclists has increased.

The CESA relay Committee has thus chosen a wonderful new venue which not only addresses the limitations of the old venue but allows more opportunities and facilities to all those attending. Its location is positioned an equal distance from Pretoria and Johannesburg.

This year we are able to offer the following improvements;

  • Larger social area and increased numbers of stands
  • Separate route for cyclists with separate change over area
  • Improved parking facilities
  • Improved running and walking routes
  • Improved viewing opportunities
  • Wildlife resort which offers restaurant and bar facilities (details of available facilities will be communicated in due course)
  • Large screen TV viewing for sporting events
  • Pony and horse riding
  • Introduction of a kiddies play park and recreational area (supervised by the Young SSI professionals) Games and challenges will be part of the days programme.
  • Good toilet facilities as well as dedicated braai areas

CESA RELAY 2010 - 25th Anniversary Event - Eagle Waters - Hartbeespoort Dam:

The venue for this years event has been moved from Fountains in Pretoria to Eagle Waters Wildlife Resort at Hartbeespoort Dam.

The relay has grown considerably over the last two years and with recent changes to the Fountains Valley Resort as well as the venue not been able to accommodate the volume of particpants safly, it was decided to moved to the EagleWater Wildlife Resort.
